’Homage to past rural tranquilitiy’ refers to the historic representation of landscape, the rural idyll, in the history of art. This work by Neal subverts this tradition by representing the invisible information landscape.
Fax transmissions were re-interpreted by an evolving software programme, producing a vista of abstract but familiar sound. This work formed part of a national touring show entitled ‘Networking’, examining the role of fax and mail art within contemporary art practise. Alex Farquharson curated.
